Xanthan Gum 200 Mesh is a natural gum polysaccharide created through fermentation of sugar (glucose or sucrose) by Xanthomonas campestris bacteria.
Used to stabilize and thicken emulsions such as lotions, creams, liquid soap, shower gels, body washes and shampoos.
Not compatible with cationic emulsifiers (such as BTMS-50)
How to use Xanthan Gum
If you try to add xanthan gum directly to your water phase you will end up with little lumps, often referred to as ‘fish eyes’. Once you get fish eyes you can’t get rid of them. So make sure to slurry your xanthan gum first before adding it to your water phase.
To slurry: Slowly add the xanthan gum to the humectant (most often glycerin) and stir until a thin paste like slurry forms. You can then add this ‘slurry’ to the rest of your water phase.
